Mission Statement

The Mission of the Medicines Authority is to contribute to the protection of public health in Malta through the regulation of the safety, quality and efficacy of medicines for sale or supply on the Maltese market.  The Authority is committed to providing high quality licensing, monitoring and inspection service to customers, amongst whom are Ministers, the pharmaceutical industry and general public.   As part of this commitment the Medicines Authority has implemented a system designed to manage quality in its operations and in its service to customers.

 

Objectives

The objectives of the Medicines Authority are:

To make recommendations to the Licensing Authority concerning the granting or withdrawal of licenses and authorizations issued on its behalf;

To ensure that its organization, work processes and funding base are all documented and transparent;

To establish procedures that meet Community obligations concerning medicinal products for human use but that also  meet the needs of the Maltese healthcare systems and industry;

To conduct inspections in accordance with the principles and guidance of GxP and in accordance with appropriate timescales.
